One of my personal favorites—Elizabeth and James—is selling this year at Lucky Shops New York. Co-designed by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Elizabeth and James blends uptown and downtown elements with menswear silhouettes and luxe fabrics. We got a chance to ask them some hard-hitting questions about fashion and shopping, natch: 

What’s the inspiration behind your latest collection?

Elizabeth and James’ Fall 2011 collection channels retro glamour through a polished interpretation of the bohemian chic style of the 1970s.  

What’s your color palette this season? 

Dark, sultry hues are offset by jewel tones and neutrals.  

If you had to pick one fall-to-winter transition piece, what would it be?

A fur vest! 

What best-kept secret about New York do you love the most?

New Yorkers are actually quite friendly. 

Where’s your go-to spot for post-Lucky Shops nibbles and cocktails?
